Hi! For the sake of this blog (and all social media purposes) I'm Amanda Bethany. Born in Minnesota and raised in the Midwest (Minnesota and Ohio) I first found myself in the appropriately nick-named "Charm City" for college. I never thought I'd end up here 6 years later, but alas here I am! Join me in my post undergrad, young professional, part-time grad student adventures in Baltimore.

 

The Boring Details 

After receiving my B.A. in a weird combo of Psychology, Theatre, and Women and Gender Studies from Johns Hopkins University I "fell" into the world of fundraising. I was incredibly involved in fundraising for the Johns Hopkins Children's Center all throughout undergrad, so I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. After spending a year and a half as the liaison between our communications team and our fundraising team, I realized how fascinated I am in the field of communications and I enrolled in a part time M.A. program at Johns Hopkins (apparently, my entire life is Hopkins). This website has been created as an educational exercise in conjunction with my graduate coursework – how fun is that?!

 

In reality though, I previously ran a blog during my time abroad in France four years ago and I’ve been meaning to get back into it. This came at a perfect time, so I’m hoping to use this to blog and really keep all my thoughts in one place.

 

Hopefully Less Boring “Fun Facts”

I love cats. No, I don’t have any. I think inevitably I will one day be a crazy cat lady. I used to dance, and then injured myself playing soccer so I can’t dance anymore. I get my kicks watching dance competition shows and shamelessly am obsessed with pretty much all reality TV. I also shamelessly love nighttime television – cannot wait tor #TGIT to be back on ABC. I’m a terrible cook, but like to think I can try. I also recently became obsessed with kickboxing. I’m a makeup, clothes, beauty, shoes, purses, all things fashion addict and shopaholic. Expect some posts about any and all of the above things. This is your warning.

 

So what’s the point?

On my site I’m hoping to blog about my general life experiences/musings, share my favorite recipes (and the inevitable epic fails), talk about the books I read in my book club (yes, I’m in a book club, and it’s AWESOME. Be jealous.), and just hopefully provide an outlet for other young professionals to find a point of commonality – we’re all just trying to make it through and doing our best. I'm going to sign all my blog posts "ab" - something I started while in France. It's twofold - my initials "Amanda Bethany" and "aimez beaucoup" kind of means "much love" in French.

 

TL;DR: I’m a young professional future crazy cat lady from the Midwest struggling through life in Baltimore, MD and running this site/blog as an assignment for grad school. ab = Amanda Bethany, my name and "aimez beaucoup" is French-ish for "much love".  Let the fun begin, and enjoy the show!
